You can upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 or later operating systems. This includes writing from one version of Windows 10 to a later version of Windows 10. Migrating from an edition associated with Windows 10 to another edition that references the same version is also considered.
To upgrade to Windows 10 from behind Windows 8.1, open the media creation tool, “Upgrade, select this PC now” and click “Install”. Yes, your family can still upgrade for free because a Windows 8.1 product key will most likely activate Windows 10.
